Hoping that Henry, after claiming how smart a kid he was, would NOT notice new stories in his Book, would seem a stretch given the intelligence of “these” writers. Unless, the writers intend on the notion or legend, of the water, had returned to the Book what was lost to it. Henry made the statement to Regina that the Book was old and was missing pages. I wonder if he was refering to more than just the last three pages that Regina was refering too?. That would fit with Booth returning missing pages and setting up the legend of the water, through Emma, to be the cause.
I still have to believe that Mr.Gold was the Author and original illustrator of Henry’s book as that book containes illustrations of things here in Storybrooke as well as FairyTale Land. And as far as we know there were only two people in Storybrooke who could have written that Book! And Regina would be the LAST one who would want that book written, leaving Mr.Gold the only other that could! August was a collecter and preserver of fairytales, not so much an author. But, I guess we shall see!…..

IF Booth is the author and has returned the Book to Henry completely restored, then I believe the most revealing subject Henry is to discover, quickly, is the identity of Mr.Gold as “Rumplestiltskin”. If Mr.Gold was not the author then I would assume he removed any clues to who he was before somehow getting that Book into Henry’s hands….

One more thing that lends itself to the theory that Booth has been here the entire time……
This looks like his garage that he is working from…… possibly his home?? These working conditions don’t look as if he’s unpacked anything in quite some time, suggesting he IS working from his home, his home here in Storybrooke!
And that bike still has a KANSAS ’84 plate on it which also suggests…HE AIN’T RIDIN THAT BIKE OUTSIDE STORYBROOKE!……….. which means his home is in Storybrooke and always has been!…..

just a quick thought… what if events in Storybrooke change events in fairytale. What if, in this case, Kathryn’s decision to leave and she meeting the coach, “generate” Fredrick in fairytale? So if August Booth is a writer he has to “fix” the story.

But the varnish makes sense, he would definitely want to make sure that the stories would survive any sort of abuse…including water. 😉
