“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937)

Podcast Episode 231

The multi-plane filming made you feel that you were crawling into these beautiful backgrounds.

For a Disney “Family-friendly” film, there were many scary and violent parts to it.

Opening with the Evil Queen section was a bold story choice, instead of the subject of the film.

The animal and dwarf animation and jokes were so perfect.

Snow White’s goodness balanced the Evil Queen’s evil, and yet they lived in the same castle.

The story showed the Evil Queen’s 2 attempts at ending Snow White’s life. We get the whole story, and not just a linear story.

The emotion of the Huntsman and Snow White scene was perfect relayed.

Part of the film was a time capsule of a time when you could have fun; cleaning a house, making a pie and singing and dancing together. You didn’t need things, you just need to be together.

Once Upon a Time connections –

A Magical Book opens the film and the text “Once Upon a Time” started it all.

The huntsman scene with Snow White was very similar.
