OUAT 2X03 Lady of the Lake Notes – Updated 10/17/12

Mini War Council when James is on the run from King George. We also see another map of a realm.

Tail between our legs comment. James apologizes to Red.

Leviathan

Leviathan (“twisted, coiled”) is a sea monster referred to in the Bible.

The word has become synonymous with any large sea monster or creature. In literature (e.g., Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick) it refers to great whales, and in Modern Hebrew, it means simply “whale.” It is described extensively in Job 41 and mentioned in Isaiah 27:1.

2 days time

At least one other time this was mentioned when Red told Snow in an earlier episode that the Prince would be married in 2 days time.

Is the Safe Haven an Island, or a Peninsula?

Operation Scorpion/Viper to rescue Emma and Snow from the Fairy Tale area. Why snake names for Operations?

I see more “normal” town signs in Storybrooke. Parking signs, etc.

Lancelot is the leader of the Safe Haven. Why is comical, but we will talk about that in a bit.

Vengence vs Justice

venge·ance

1. infliction of injury, harm, humiliation, or the like, on a person by another who has been harmed by that person;

jus·tice

1. the quality of being just; righteousness, equitableness, or moral rightness: to uphold the justice of a cause.
2. rightfulness or lawfulness, as of a claim or title; justness of ground or reason: to complain with justice.
3. the moral principle determining just conduct.
4. conformity to this principle, as manifested in conduct; just conduct, dealing, or treatment.
5. the administering of deserved punishment or reward.

Mulan’s code seems to be honor at all times.

Chimera

The Chimera (also Chimaera or Chimæra) (play /kɨˈmɪərə/ or /kaɪˈmɪərə/; Greek: Χίμαιρα, Khimaira, from χίμαρος, khimaros, “she-goat”) was, according to Greek mythology, a monstrous fire-breathing female creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of three animals: a lion, a serpent and a goat. Usually depicted as a lion, with the head of a goat arising from its back, and a tail that ended in a snakes’s head,[1] the Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. The term chimera has also come to describe any mythical or fictional animal with parts taken from various animals.

Chimera also mentioned in the episode, “The Shepherd”

Turducken definition: A turducken is a dish consisting of a de-boned chicken stuffed into a de-boned duck, which itself is stuffed into a de-boned turkey. The word turducken is a portmanteau of turkey, duck, and chicken. The dish is a form of engastration, a recipe method in which one animal is stuffed inside the gastric passage of another.[1]

The thoracic cavity of the chicken/game hen and the rest of the gaps are stuffed, sometimes with a highly seasoned breadcrumb mixture or sausage meat, although some versions have a different stuffing for each bird. The result is a fairly solid layered poultry dish, suitable for cooking by braising, roasting, grilling, or barbecuing.

Snow enlightens people to the differences between creatures;

Giants and Ogres to Emma, and
Dwarves and Trolls to Prince Charming in Snow Falls

Lancelot “The Curse stripped Cora of her power (in the Safe Haven)” Really? We’ll see about that.

Mulan is Lancelot’s bravest warrior.

King George talking to Snow about being in love was similar to Rumpelstiltskin talking to Charming about being in love (“I know more than you think”).

The term “Suffering” was used by King George, “Charming could have been that hope for me, but instead he made my suffering worse,” (It has been used many times, like Queen Regina in the Pilot “Out of your suffering will rise my victory”)

King George gave Snow cursed water that would not allow her to have a child. Was there something “in the water” in Fairy Tale Land that wouldn’t allow any woman to have a child (unless Rumpelstiltskin provided them one)?

Mulan, “Is (your gun) Magic?” I wonder if the gun won’t work in Fairy Tale Land, unless it’s enchanted. If that’s true, how would that happen?

Snow mentioned finding the wardrobe and “going home”. Going home is a parallel to The Wizard of Oz.

Henry’s dialogue with Jefferson sounds very much like Emma’s dialogue with Snow about being left without a parent for 28 years.

James did an Anakin pre fight Light sabre spin with his sword.

We see another well (That has the same design as the one by red house, by Jefferson’s house, the one August took Emma to, and the one Rumpel poured in the potion):

More notes and pics to follow. Keep checking back.

Lancelot: “The Curse stripped Cora of her power”…… That was Cora *as Lancelot* who said that! That was Cora sitting there eating Chimera WITH Emma and Snow!
When and IF Lancelot was killed by Cora, we have to assume she’s had her powers the whole time. IF Lancelot is alive….where is he? and why didn’t Cora kill him?
At some point in the past, Lancelot did oversee that Safe Haven as Mulan said to Aurora, “Phillip trusted him as we should too”…. So at some point Cora did something with Lancelot and assumed his Identity when she needed to, or all together.!
