Once Upon a Time Blanket: Casting On

So you’re ready to start the blanket but you have no idea where to start?

Well that’s easy.  You will need to start at the beginning.

The step is called casting on.

This is how you will get the yarn onto the needles so that you are able to start knitting

What you will need to create the Once Upon a Blanket by Caitlin Ffrench
Gauge: Gauge: 10 st x 19 r /4” in garter stitch
Pattern
Needles
Yarn

Pattern: via Google Docs and Ravelry
Gauge: Gauge: 10 st x 19 r /4” in garter stitch

NeedlesUS 13 – 10.0 mm, US 15 – 10.0 mm, US 17 – 12.75 mm, US 19 – 15.0 mm
easily purchased on amazon or at your local craft store (Hobby LobbyMichaels, or Joanns or your local yarn store.
any of the below sizes will work.  Personally I love the fabric on the US 13
US 13 – 10.0 mm, US 15 – 10.0 mm, US 17 – 12.75 mm, US 19 – 15.0 mm

Yarn: Bulky or Super Bulky (400 yards)
amazon, Hobby LobbyMichaels, or Joanns or your local yarn store.
also known as a size 5 or 6 yarn make sure to purchase matching dye lots

Let’s start with the  Once Upon a Blanket,
also known as Princess Emma’s Baby Blanket from ABC’s Once Upon a Time.
This beautiful pattern created by Caitlin Ffrench is a wonderful design full of some basic and new techniques.
To be able to create this blanket you will need to know how to do the following:
Well my pets, I am here to teach you how.
We will take this in stages.
Step one: Materials Needed
Step two: Cast On
Step three: Garter Stitch
Step four: Bind Off
Step five: fan and feather edge.
Of course once you know the basics you can do anything.
All knitting in comprised of knits and purls, yes really that is it!
I know it sounds too easy and you know what- it is!
