News:

Our Steveston Bluebirds have been chirping again-

If you’re interested in buying the Storybrooke Public Library (aka Nikka Fishing & Marine), it’s going to close at the end of Oct and up for sale.

Here is the link to the article.

http://www.richmond-news.com/news/nikka-fishing-and-marine-closing-its-doors-1.1384622

According to our local papers, the city is looking at the Nikka building … now get this … as a possible site for the Steveston Library expansion

Looks like the Sheriff’s office was moved to Steveston (well at least the exterior wall). Sheriff’s exterior wall ‘story front’ built in the parking lot behind the Purbeck building.
Also it looked like Pajos Fish & Chip (floating dock on the waterfront) had become Storybrooke Fish & Chips and around the same time, there was filming inside Tapenade Bistro … you may recognize the interior if it made the cut.

At least some of the filming of the Cedar Cove series is filmed in North Vancouver’s Deep Cove area (same cove where Grumpy had his sailboat moored).

Honeymoon house (Rumple & Belle) .. looks a lot like the Cecil Green House on the University of British Columbia campus. Attached pictures for your judgement.

Here’s a picture of ‘Any Given Sundae’ taken mid-July …. as you can see through the doorway that it’s still being used as prop storage as was the case when it was the ‘Storybrooke Pet Shelter’. The ‘Chop Shop’ is right next to the ‘Duperre & Hughes’ law office (a Japanese fusion restaurant in real life & formerly the ‘Tandoori’ East Indian restaurant) . The ‘Chop Shop’ is signage only as the doorway leads inside to several separate offices, one being a dentist so maybe aptly named.

Any Given Sundae

The usual buildings have been changed along with the Storybrooke Cannery making an infrequent appearance.

We noticed a large ‘for sale’ sign for the building housing Granny’s Diner … interested? I think it’s a heritage building so not much can be changed to the exterior of it.

The way it’s going, OUAT may have to buy out the whole village.

What do you think about the Producers not including them in the final episode? Is this a problem?

Hello guys! I’m soo happy you guys are back!! This hiatus has been really long (Although Ironically I’ve never been without a show it’s something weird that happened but still) I’m so happy to have the show back and to have you guys back doing episode analysis. I love you guys opinions and it makes my day to listen to the podcasts!

I’m still not sure if we imagined the episode because it was just soo perfect I have no words for it.. Charming/Anna, Captain Charming, Captain Swan, Frozen Swan, Mama Mayor…Everything was glorious! Bravo Jane Bravo!

Captain Charming / Daddy Charming

So both Charming and Hook’s fathers abandoned them. Were cowards. And yet they became the men they did.

Overprotective charming is the best, he’s not being patriarchal or anything he’s being an overprotective father. He wants to know that his little girl is in good hands and deep down he knows she is.. I mean come on Killian is his BFF but it’s his duty as Emma’s dad to ask the question.. I saw it more as Charming confirming what he already knew, that Killian loves his daughter above all else..

(Charming giving Killian (THE NOD )

http://bellamyfraserjones.tumblr.com/post/99290123152

(Also remember back in Tallahassee where he said “I risked my own safety to help you” yep it’s been there the whole time)

Killian isn’t thinking rationally he just wants to get her out of there and it’s a great parallel to 3×01 where Charming is desperate and Killian calms him down, here it’s the other way around

Then the two of them working together against Bo Beep in Storybrooke was perfect, they just work together so well. They are best friends and act like brothers and this is great because those two kill me.

Emma called him “Dad” to his face and it killed me.. (Also the quip at the beginning about babies shows how much they have in common.)

Henry

Honestly? Hook can use a cellphone but Regina can’t? I want to give Regina the benefit of the doubt but come on give me a reason to root for you woman.. I was rooting for you in season 3 and now you’re back to it’s everyone’s fault but my own..

I’m side-eyeing her so much…no matter how much **** your life is you don’t do that to your kid..It’s selfish and abusive just when you think Regina is getting better she goes ten steps back.

Henry deserves much better and she can’t treat him like crap again..

Mama Mayor

She was perfect really… The way she handled things was great once she got the hang of everything..

I hated the “now I know why Regina was evil” comment bc again it’s taking away from Regina’s actual evilness and victim-blaming I know it was meant as a joke but it irked me…

– –

Frozen Swan

Honestly can we keep the frozen characters?? I love them too much to let them go… And Emma needs a friend who isn’t a family member or her boyfriend.

And Elsa is just so perfect for the role.. They are going through the same thing, they are both walls-up kind of people both have let their walls down for people (Anna and Killian) and those people became their anchors.. You guys mentioned Henry and Regina but her real anchor is Killian

“Dark Hollow she lights the candle after see in the shadow go after Killian”

“In Rumple’s vault she gets her magic back and Killian is right there”

“With Frosty he’s right there telling her she can do this”

Plus Elsa is one of the ONLY OUAT characters who is like “Yeah I saved her but I still hurt her too, so the thanks isn’t all that warranted..” Which is something I love and honestly Georgina is perfect as Elsa..

Their talk says soo much about both of them.. The fact that Emma still doesn’t quite believe she’s the savior and she’s trying to help Elsa and breaks through to her.. Elsa hates the fact that she’s hurt Emma.

“Aren’t you cold? I’m freezing.”
“It’s never bothered me.”

After all the cold never bothered her anyway…

– –

Charming (And Anna)

“It’s my grunge shepherd phase!”

I think it’s totally interesting and makes total sense that Anna knows how to sword fight.. I mean she grew up with basically no interaction with the world locked in their castle.. So obviously she would have learned to do lots of things.. And that just makes this all so great.. (And it answers the question how did Charming know how to sword fight against a dragon when he was a shepherd)

I do agree that Charming’s dad started drinking after he made the deal with Rumple

“He regretted the decision the moment that man took your brother” Is what Ruth tells David in the Shepherd back in season 1…

The situation with his father kills me because it’s such a real situation, I have friends whose fathers were drunks and it just hits home to how real of a character Charming has always been.. The fact that he wasn’t always this hopeful character for me makes it all better.. Because other than Killian and Emma, Charming has always been my favorite and this part of his story kills me and yet I love it..

He’s basically the poster boy for “Never Give Up” in the show and knowing how affected he was by his father and later by Anna just fills me with joy. And honestly it shows me how similar he and Emma are.

(That scene with him fighting the guards and Bo Beep was just perfect okay)

– –

Captain Swan

(Everything about them killed me..and yes I say that a lot but it’s true and I’m getting emotional just writing this down)

First scene:

“It’s what I would do.”

Killian Jones is everything and he’s not ashamed of being a pirate and this is reminding us this man is a master strategist and considering what happens in the ep seeing him loose his cool like that it was just wow.

Also I find it absolutely adorable that Killian considers dates all those times he was with Emma fighting monsters and dealing with a new crisis. Not only he tells her he loves spending time with her and doesn’t care about the drama but he wants more of them.He doesn’t ask for much. He settles with what she can give him and he’s okay with that because no matter what they are doing, whether if it’s fighting monsters or having a heart-felted talk outside granny’s. What matters to him is that they are together and I’m pretty sure she sees it and appreciates it a lot

Now for the emotional stuff:

Adam and Eddy have said 4A’s theme is “You don’t give up on the people you love” and throughout the episode we had not only Killian saying over and over “I’m not giving up, I’m not giving up” it ends with Charming saying “Our family doesn’t like to give up” and then the camera pans to Captain Swan cuddling and Killian looking at Emma with so much love in his eyes.. (Subtle they are not)

He desperately grabs the walkie because he needs to hear her voice..You know what hurts even more than his face when he was trying to get her out? He thought he was going to loose her the same way he lost Liam and Milah..and the difference is that they died in his arms, here he would be completely helpless to save Emma and she would die alone.. The first person he’s cared about in 300 years and he couldn’t help her.

I don’t know if you guys know this because I know you hate spoilers but back in 3×12 there was a hug that was filmed but never quite made the cut.. It wasn’t in the script apparently but that was always in our minds… This is the first time we can say we’re happy it was cut.. because this hug? This hug is EVERYTHING.. There are no words but it says a lot. Charming in a way pushes her up into Hook’s arms and Hook closes his eyes in relief as he tries to soothe her by stroking her hair. She keeps her eyes closed and soaks in the fact that he’s got her, that she’s safe. She cradles his head like her dad always does to her when they hug and then there’s his little smile as he lowers his mouth to her shoulder. She starts to fall and reaches for the ice because she’s so used to saving herself but Hook is like I’ve got you this time. I’m never letting you to, telling her it’s okay to trust him, to trust that he’ll save her when she can’t save herself. He carries her off and she snuggles into him.

The first shot of the loft then the light comes back is wonderful because it has Emma holding both of Killian and Henry’s hands..She was still trying to warm up, both Killian and Henry were holding her hands. Her boys….her TRUE LOVES…were on either side of her holding her hands and just being there for her. Also it has her father and her new friend behind her.. As an Emma fan this means a lot because she was a lost girl who had no one that cared for her and now she’s got an entire support system.

Her hand is on his head and he carries her out, he carries her home.. There’s hugging and hand-holding and forehead kisses and cuddling and it’s so beautiful. Her thumb strokes his sleeve just before he brushes her shoulder. She’s not looking at him, but she’s seeking comfort from him and comforting him at the same time. It’s so small and barely noticeable but it’s there and he responds. All this while staring at her, happy because she’s going to be okay and she’s in his arms when a few hours back he was worried he was going to loose her, that she was gonna die.

This is so important because when they are cuddling and they focus on the hands SHE’S the one that intertwines their fingers together. She’s the one initiating the contact and it’s beautiful because you see her walls are down with him.

Also: Gold called Emma Hook’s girlfriend and that made us extremely happy

– –

I just laugh because this episode just shut up all the haters arguments against Killian and CS

“He just cares about getting into her pants!” -> “I wouldn’t risk my life for someone I see as loot.”

“He makes all the decisions he’s a misogynist!” -> “Whatever we become it’s up to her as much as me.”

“Emma doesn’t care about him!” -> He’s the first person she calls to check out the situation, she hugs him after getting out of the ice, she is the one that doesn’t back away, she leans into him back at the loft, she intertwines their hands together

Also it shut up all the charmings haters that said that they can’t handle things on their own.. they managed to solve this without Regina or Rumple…

So yes I loved the episode hehehehe looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Hope you guys have a lovely week!

I know it’s late but my sisters and I was thinking the Snow Queen is interest in Emma and that she was part of Emma past when she was foster care Emma doesn’t remember we still trying workout how she was became in the real world that the Snow Queen will also have connection to Snow

Brad

Good Day Jeff and Colleen, I hope you’re both keeping warm in the studio. They don’t call it the frozen hills for nothing.

Here’s the list of things I learned this week in the episode, White Out.

1). There isn’t a “Sorry your
boyfriend’s wife time travelled
back from the past” gift basket.

2). The Storybrooke health
department needs to check Any
Given Sundae for unsanitary
activities.

3). Emma doesn’t drink and Sheriff.

4). Somebody needs to buy Regina a
smart phone for Christmas.

5). Hook is learning to become a
21st-century man but still prefers
paying with doubloons.

6). Sometimes mama has to get her
hands dirty.

7). Bo Peep was fleecing more than
just sheep.

8). Handcrafted tuscan wood
carvings are worthless during a
blackout.

9). Regina’s attitude could have
developed because of ornery
townspeople.

10). David may be concealing a rock
scream deep inside his soul.

OBSERVATIONS

BO BEEP

I tried to like Bo Peep but it just wasn’t happening for me. I know they tried to twist it and make her a villain but when I heard David say, “That is someone you don’t want to mess with. They call her Bo Peep”, I just laughed out loud. When you get made fun of at times for watching the show, talking to co workers about how Bo Peep is a powerful warlord doesn’t do you any favors. Maybe if there was a reason behind the name that made sense, it may have made a difference. I felt she was a very weak warlord with her army of two. In Storybrooke, I found it unbelievable that she has been in the Chop Shop for three seasons and hasn’t made any type of move, especially with the shepherds crook in her possession. If the crook was in Gold’s shop or broken, it would have made so
much more sense. How they introduced Zelena into the town last season was brilliant. I realize you need to extend your imagination when dealing with real life fairy tale characters but David beating both her guards only after one sword training session with Anna and then ending it with a MMA roundhouse kick was just too unrealistic, even for Once Upon A Time. On a positive note, I did like how the crook had magical abilities.

OPERATION NIGHT SHADE

Was Emma really going to name the mission after a plant that killed Hook’s brother, was the reason Gold manipulated her mother into killing Cora and almost took the life of her father? How about operation heart crush then or operation marked palm or even operation enchanted candle. I think she should leave the nicknames names to Henry.

GRUMPY, HAPPY & GRANNY

Although the scenes with Snow were very humorous, didn’t you find these three to be out of character? Happy is usually in good spirits. Grumpy has always been willing to stand by Snow and Charming’s side to do whatever it took, of course he would complain but never would just sit back and ask “what are you going to do about it”. Granny is a very independent woman and I could see her trying to turn the power on all by herself not complain to Snow who just had a baby. I would have rather had the deleted scene between Mary Margaret and Regina to explain the new mayor position.

ANNA

Out of all the new character so far, Anna is most definitely my favorite. I love her humorous lines of dialog. Elizabeth Lail is doing an amazing job! While watching Frozen for the first time (in forever), I remember Anna being my favorite character and wondering why Elsa was more the fan favorite. Although Elsa may have reigned supreme in the movie, in the show, she may be the weakest. We still have lots of time for character growth though.

THEORIES

SNOW QUEEN

The most popular theory right now is that this new Snow Queen is Elsa’s real mother. I do like this theory but it also feels too easy, almost like they expect us to come to this conclusion. Is the line “I’m the only one with these powers” a foretelling? What if Elsa’s mom had a run in with this Queen who tried to freeze her heart but ended up freezing the baby in her womb instead. After this incident the Queen may have had her powers weakened as Elsa’s powers grew over time. Now, her ice power only grows the closer she comes in contact with Elsa. This would explain why she has never used her powers in Storybrooke before. The only way to grant her full control of her powers ‘once again’ is to eliminate Elsa, so she can be “The only one with these powers”.

ANNA’S NECKLACE

Seeing how Elsa no longer has the necklace and the reaction Rumpel had when he realized it was taken, the idea that Anna is in the necklace seems like a pretty solid theory.

WILL SCARLET

We know that Will Scarlet will be introduced to the show this Sunday. So I have a theory that would link the Snow Queen and Will together. I was one of the few people who enjoyed Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, especially the second half. In the episode To Catch A Thief, Will tells Alice a story about his sister Penelope, who was four year younger than he was. They had a lake by a cottage and in the winter it would freeze over so they would spend lots of time on the ice. One day, she fell through a thin piece of ice and died. Will never went into all the little details but I believe this new woman in Storybrooke may be Will’s sister and that her powers came from her near death experience with the icy waters. It would be a ‘cool’ way to add Will to the story and sync up Wonderland with Once Upon A Time.

BURNING QUESTIONS

Did someone kill David’s father and make it look like an accident? He may have visited a tavern but that doesn’t mean he drank on that 14th day. Would Anna still have come to Rumpel if David’s father was still alive? Rumpel’s plan to get back Bae back was very complex and involved many people, all being at the right place, at the right time. Maybe David’s father is not really dead.

LITTLE BO PEEP’S ‘REVISED’ NURSERY RHYME

Little Bo Peep has branded her sheep. And knows just where to find them.

She’s never alone, when visiting their home.
Bringing guards with swords beside them.

Have a great show!

  1. Tyler

personally I agree with Jeff about the deleted scenes, don’t get me wrong, they are cool, but I would rather wait for the Blu for them because I want 99% of the bonus footage on the Blu release to be never before seen, and I want more of it. One of my favorite shows on dvd is Stargate because for a 22 episode season they included about 5 hours worth of behind the scenes and almost every episode had an audio commentary with usually one of the main cast members and one of the writers or directors, each disc included 1-2 of their “Director’s Series” features which was a look at an individual episode, then on top pf those they would have a handful of other behind the scenes features for the season in general.

It would be cool to have director’s cuts of the episodes that would include the deleted scenes on the DVDs, as well to see the full concept of the episodes. Lots of uses for the deleted scenes, for sure.

I am siding with Colleen on this one. I am sure that there are some ONCE fans who are not too happy about having the Frozen characters taking up the majority of screen-time while their favorite ONCE characters are having less. Giving them immediate access to any additional scenes with characters like Snow and Regina is a good way to placating them while also giving the new viewers to the show this season what they want…Frozen.
Now where are those additional scenes with Hook….Please!
