Just throwing this out there. The stranger is a writer with an old-time typewriter, perhaps he is a Grimm and could the number 23 on his license plate reference the 23rd story written by them, “The Mouse, The Bird And The Sausage”. That story is about a group of three doing the jobs each is good at to be successful and one one of them listen’s to an outsider and decides to try and do another’s job, they all die. Probably way off base but may mean something down the line.

Now that’s what I’m Talkin ‘Bout!… Where ya been Bill??
At first, my blurry tv made the NR appear to be NH for New Hampshire… the 23 wasn’t clickin and I don’t know anything about motorcycle lic’ plates other than they’re much smaller! Are the states abbrieviated because of that? If so, then what’s written across the top – too small to see. Then I watched in HD on HULU and now I’m back to square one. What does NR mean in the motorcycle world??

Also, just throwing this out there… The “type” of typewriter possibly has something to do with “boold sacrificing” in a story from Edgar Allan Poe…..”?” IDK still digging!

      THANKS BILL!!

Good point there Bill. I was trying to read the plate but as they said it is blurry. I was wondering what the *23* meant. Have to think about that one. I do know the story you are talking about but not all the books are the same so the listing might be in different order.

You know…… that shield that appears on that “NR” plate in the upper left hand corner sure looks like an OUAT storyline shield..”?”…. now, I have to look up shields…lol

I’m sorry….. The shield that appears in that “wikipedia” link you posted about NR plates…. that’s the NR plate I was refering to,……… not the one on the motorcycle.

      Found it!…. The plate reads:

      …………… Kansas 84…………..
      ……………………………………. c
      ….N………………………………. y
      ……………………………………. c
      ….R……………………………… l
      …………………………………… e

This would also imply that David’s thought about this character being tied into the Wizard Of OZ ,somehow, a little more valid. Although, the Wizard was from Omaha, Nebraska, I can’t recall any other fairytale stories with that kind of emphasis on the state of “KANSAS”…. can any of you???

A friend said the motorcycle looks like an old electra glide Harley.

And on another blog someone said it looks like the word “Kansas” appears on the license plate–if so, is the stranger the Wizard of Oz?

I can confirm the “Kansas” but not the two digits to the right, or the two words – top to bottom along the right side of the plate,Arg!

There was talk of the LOST connection concerning OZ, the Uncle, the balloonist and Ben…… wasn’t that you David?

      where was that?

I found it… Benjamin Linus simply assumed the name Henry Gale from a balloonist who crashed and burned on the island…

The Wizard Of OZ was from Omaha, Nebraska….. not Kansas
    However!,

Uncle “Henry” aka; Dorothy Gale’s uncle and husband to Aunt Em, was from and remained in Kansas, as he had no alternate world character…”?” Hmm..

If the mystery biker was from stoorybrook then why would he ask Emma and Henry “Is this storybrook?” in the end of episode nine? That confuses me so. Only an outsider would ask that.

IDK!? The writers seem to do that every now and then………
Why didn’t Mr.Gold just simply ask Regina for the “chipped cup” by saying “Please”..”?” You know the last thing he wanted to do was to let Regina know that he remembers everything!….. UNLESS!, that’s exactly what Gold/Rumpel’ wanted her to know….. it was time to let her in on it?… according to his “plan”, so he chose NOT to use the “Please” option in order to let it come out and be known?…….”Your Majesty”
Perhaps the Stranger asked them that on purpose to give the illusion that he IS from out of town, or, since he’s a fairytale character, is responding to his “False” background, courtesy of the Dark Curse, and just believes that he’s never been to Storybrooke, or, has never made it thus far before Emma’s arrival and the restart of time…..Remember,….. Before Emma’s arrival and the restart of time, all in Storybrooke had to be reliving the same year over and over again. My guess would be from Oct’ ’83 to Oct’ ’84, and then back again (our time), in order for Henry to have gotten an education up to this point, the time repeated couldn’t have been any shorter. Plus, it would have made it impossible for Henry to keep track and celebrate his birthday, as he was the only one aging normally! Perhaps the Stranger has been on his way for the last 28 years!, Obviously not traveling for 28 years, but getting to a certain point then sufferring the reset and finding himself unknowingly starting that journey all over again from where ever it was that he started it from! LOL!… Not enough there yet!…. But, there’s one thing we should be certain about….. He wasn’t riding that motorcycle around for 28 years, outside of Storybrooke, with a 1984 Kansas plate on it without getting it impounded. And we know the writers are aware of these kinds of details as Emma’s DEC ’11 tags were the writer’s first clue to us as to the year that Emma turned 28 years old!….
I’ve got to go with that the Stranger has always been here and is reacting to his “False” backstory. If the Stranger is from FairyTale Land then Rumple’ knows and had to know because he created the Dark Curse and had to conjure up “false” backstories for all that have crossed over! Be it their stories True or False, Good or Evil, Rumplestiltskin had to know! The Stranger could still be any one of those characters suggested, except for Pinocchio or Baeilfire, as we figured Pinocchio for “wood” or Too young…. and Baeilfire(I just know I’m spelling that wrong), courtesy of Jane Espenson has been dead for centuries!…. and DEAD is DEAD!

There it is…………………. the writer of the stories himself!

My immediate interpretation is that these clues, 23, and KANSAS, are in recognition and tribute to Walt Disney…… but, not our character! “The Stranger” and that ” ’84 ” still alludes to our Stranger being a fairytale character…… Thus, opening him up to previous assumptions and NOT tieing him to the state of KANSAS anymore…… exclusively anyway!. Hmm?

It’s an Indian Chieftain, likely a “Classic”, between 2009-2012 when S&S built the motors. They were very similar to a HD with the motor, primary, and transmission all being separate sections of the power plant. It’s been modified a bit as indicated by the open primary. If it helps my credibility, I’m an Indian Motorcycle Technician. The shape of the headlight is what gave it away to me. http://autobikegallery.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/2012-Indian-Chief-Classic-Black-Right-Angle.jpg

Very cool! Thanks for letting us know. Even the name of the motorcycle has a nod to a story used in OUAT (Peter Pan).

Hi, Found this blog looking for the make of Motor Cycle introduced in episode #9
It does not appear to be an Indian, Look at the oil tank on the bike and compare it to the modern Indians. It does have similar Fenders though. At first i thought it was a Drifter but the primary drive cover looks more like a H-D. Perhaps it is with custom fenders.
