This was a ok episode more fuller then moving the plot only got interesting toward the end.

What I like about the episode is Snowing fighting then tricking Arthur favorite line Charming “you thought you could trick me with a catchy title and a comfy chair” loved that line.

Regina” I’m not worried about them they can outlive a cockroach”

I did not like Arthur and Gunievere putting a spell on Charmings really hope Regina knows them well enough to see something not right and maybe this is why Emma think they fail her because she doesn’t know they been spell.

I was wondering if the curse brought Merida here and can’t wait to see her train Rumple but my question is Rumple really the hero she needs or is she turning him into hero so he can fight the person she really wants which is Hook really hoping it’s isn’t the case.

I’m also beginning to think Emma brace the darkness to save everyone from Camelot also think she going to use their love for her to destroy the darkness completely she doing for the right reasons but in the wrong way

From Chris Tipton
Hey yall… This was a decent episode. I really enjoyed the music, Mark Isham is a composing genius!!! . The ine thing i absolutely hated about the episode kicks off… my 5 points

5)The plot line of Lancelot and Guinevere…. Was extremely disappointing to me. I feel like they were giving her an excuse to cheat on Arthur. Yes its not good that Arthur was giving more attention to the dagger than her, but that’s no excuse. And the scene where she kisses Arthur and they try to make you feel sorry for Lancelot made me cringe. I understand it wasnt real but Guinevere is still Arthurs wife, thats where she should be. I also feel they’re breaking the laws of magic with this sand making Guinevere love Arthur. I suppose technically she just “appears” to, so i guess that’s they’re loop hole.

4) Arthur…. I loved the casting choice for young Arthur. His eyes are so like grown Arthur its uncanny. I feel like he could easily be his son lol. I was disappointed to find out my theory was wrong, Arthur didn’t put Merlin in the tree. I think it was probably the Lady of the lake, which in many Arthurian Legend stories actually did imprison Merlin in a treee. It makes total sense that finding the dagger basically drove Arthur mad. I should have seen that coming. It was sad to see the bro-ship if Arthur and David die so hard. I loved David calling him out on tricking him with a comfy chair.

3.The dark one Vault…. Seeing inside the dark one vault was epic, but i have to question why the dagger was there. I suppose this was during the time when Rumple was terrorizing the enchanting forest and this is where he kept it? Makes sense i guess. Rumple getting thr gauntlet so easily massively contradicts season 4. Rumple said he went to Camelot to get it, and she asked him how it went and he said “good for me, not so good for Camelot”. Well they screwed the pooch on that one, he didn’t go to Camelot at all for it, and he was handed it lol. Nice plot hole. I didn’t understand the darkness that tryed to take Lancelot at all. I thought that all the darkness was in Rumple. I thought this was a cheap plot device to push Gwen to kiss Lancelot.

2. Merida… Even though she wasn’t in the episode much, she was still great. I love her character and cant wait to see her team up with Lancelot. I rolled my eyes when Emma told her she was going to use her to make Rumple brave (que rimshot) but i still think this has the potential to be a fun storyline.

1. Emma and Killian… Wow, i loved this so much. Killians Devotion to Emma is positively heartwarming. I love how hard hes willing to work to help Emma, its love in its truest sense to me. My heart broke for Emma seeing how tortured she was. I still want to know if the same thing happened to Rumple during the beginning of him being the dark one. Killians face when he found out about Henry having a crush on violet was AMAZING!! He looked like such a proud father 😂. Easily the best moment of the episode.

One side note, the Charmings coming to a quick resolution to their fight was yes, another easy resolution, but I appreciate it because it shows what a great couple and parents they are.

All in all, a good episode, i just wish we could find out more about Merlin, although it was nice to hear how he gave the prophecy, he spoke it as the tree. Did he like turn into grandmother Willow or something and speak to him? I thought you needed the toadstool to communicate through magical barriers… Sigh, maybe it wasn’t so nice after all. I should stop thinking about it too much haha. I give this episode 7.75/10 head demons

Hi Colleen and Jeff,

No apologies necessary Jeff for interrupting emails, I would say from all of us-that’s why we write in, to start conversations and get input and ideas from you and everyone listening. If all you did was read emails out right and then said good bye…wouldn’t be nearly as fun!!! I look forward to the “Things I learned from this episode, and the top ten list, and everyone’s theories and little details I missed! Someone brought up Madaam Mimm and my little Disney heart got all a flutter! How great would that be? Ok, Colleen asked about Rumples trip to Camelot in the past…Belle asked Rumple back in enchanted forest if he succeeded in his quest to Camelot. He said he got what he went for, and when she asked how it went he said “good for me, not so good for Camelot.” Interesting, and does fit…well except for the timeline but that’s just something I ignore and enjoy the show. I thought this episode was pretty good and I may be in the few that thinks so, but it feels so first season that I just loved it. So many little things being put into place to ponder and theorize about. Here are my thoughts on the Broken Kingdom.

Ok, I so agree with you both. I was yelling at David…What are you doing David? Don’t do this! Then I was like….really?? Snow what the heck are YOU doing? I fell for it hook, line and sinker…and loved it! When I realized they were up to their old tricks and working together to get what they need, it was great. I kinda felt like they could have tried a teeny bit harder at Granny’s tho? David, Snow and Lancelot are not amateurs, they can fight when needed, yet they stood there and then got pink sanded. BOOOOOOOOOOO! Arthur. Ugh…what a toad!!! How did he ever get so far from the guy who pulled the sword to a smarmy, no good tool. No wonder her heart was veering toward Lancelot, not that I am a promoter of adultery, but Arthur did emotionally leave her and that marriage years ago. She tried to make the right choice and he pink sanded her anyway!! Yah, he’s a…….…jerk (this is family podcast). You don’t do that to the love of your life. I wonder if her and Lancelot do truly love each other and if a kiss can break this spell, and where is Lancelot now anyway? Arthur and Zelena are equally wicked. I hope that Regina and Robin can see that Snow and Charming are under a spell, but she trying to trust them so much that she may not see it…and this is where they all fail Emma. Regina should have been hiding at Granny’s to help…hello? She is magical everyone!! So, Merlin has been in the tree aloooooong time. Who put him there? The dark one? Blue Fairy? Himself? So interesting. This is the second mention that Emma should save herself…like I said last time, she said she’s the only that saves herself, and this week Rumple told her “you’re the savior, save yourself.” Emma has to be working against herself-she is in there somewhere. Arthur is going to try and use the dagger to control Emma to do bad things, ugh…I’m so worried for her. Maybe against Henry? That has to be why she’s so angry at everyone, and why she told Henry she didn’t blame him, that HE didn’t fail her, everyone else did. Poor Merida…she is going to curse the day she ran into Emma for sure. This is getting so good-every week I just can’t wait to see what’s coming and what will unfold.

Things that made me go hmmmm…Pink Sand that appears to fix broken things? Ok, I guess I see that since Arthur “pink eyed” Guinevere, that it would fix her as to what HE sees as broken in her. And when they dusted Camelot it fixed what THEY feel was broken in their vision of Camelot? And Snow and Charming got fixed to THEIR way of thinking? Is that how you all see the dust works on people? Fixes things from the perspective of the ones doing the dusting? Poofing. People poof when they don’t need to and don’t when they should. Regina was 2 feet from the door when she poofed away from the argument. Yet, when they needed to get to Gold and the author last season to save all of them, they all split up and ran across town together…makes me giggle. Where is the rest of the gang? Not at granny’s…or they could have helped Snow and Charming…didn’t the dwarfs go along to help? And what the heck was the dark one goo that tried to get Lancelot? Rumple was clearly the dark one at that time, so why was there free flowing dark one goop running amuck?

Big Love to you both and all the Oncers! Hang in there everyone, and….wait for it…….be Brave! Talk to you all next week…Trace

From Janice
Hello, Jeff and Colleen,

Janice Marie, once again to give you my thoughts on the episode “Broken Kingdom.”

Before I get into my thoughts on the episode, I just have to ask you one question: Did you see the final trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens????”

Ok, now that I got that out of the way, here are my thoughts on “Broken Kingdom”:

1. First thing I have to talk about, the whole CaptainSwan, VioletBeliever scene in the stable. That had to be my FAVORITE part of the episode. I thought it was hilarious seeing Hook being happy for Henry, while Emma, on the other hand, seemed to be showing a little of her protectiveness, sorta like Regina in the second episode this season.

2. Speaking of Henry and Violet, I noticed a great parallel between them two and Regina and Daniel. Regina had fallen in love with Daniel, who was a Stable Boy, and Henry has a crush on Violet who seems to be a Stable Girl. Regina was a princess when she was with Daniel and Henry is a prince, given that one of his moms is a queen and his other mom’s a princess. I just hope that Henry’s relationship with Violet turns out a little, if not, A LOT BETTER than Regina and Daniel’s.

3. Young Arthur and Young Guinevere ~~ PHENOMINAL CASTING!!! Not to mention that the boy who played young Arthur had AMAZING EYES!!! Every time the camera cut to him, all I could think of was, “Are his eyes real, or is he just wearing contacts?”

4. My favorite line ~ Charming: “My wife doesn’t think we can trust you.” Arthur: “… It’s the beard, isn’t it?”

5. I completely forgot that Granny’s was in the middle of the woods. No wonder I was sooo confused when I saw Snow in her Camelot outfit inside the diner in those press release photos…

6. Finally, the whole scene where Snow and Charming actually SET UP Arthur!!! That was DIFINITELY a twist that I did NOT expect. One of the best that the show’s ever done, in my opinion.

Hope you guys have a wonderful day. Can’t wait for your next podcast. I will try to email you guys as often as I can for each show. I love your show and I love you guys! Oh, and tell Lady I said “Hello.”

I’d be careful of what you wish for about wanting to know where Emma got her tattoo. Remember when Lost explained Jack’s tattoos, we got the episode with Bai Ling, a serious contender for worst episode of the series. 🙂

From Brad
Good day Jeff and Colleen,
here’s a thought, maybe if the Sands of Avalon were used on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, they could have “fixed” the ratings. Oh well, I guess the sands can’t fix EVERY problem. Now, unto the things I learned this week on the episode, The Broken Kingdom.

#1. It’s difficult to be intimate
while imaginary Rumple is
watching from the shadows.

#2. There comes a time in every
man’s life where he must
admit defeat and ask his wife,
“Fix this my love”.

#3. When you and your partner
start having a heated
argument, be mindful of the
poor unfortunate souls that
are trapped in the room.

#4. Sometimes you just have to
tell your husband to “shut up
and dance with me.”

#5. A man’s ship should never fit
in his pocket.

#6. Many politicians have been
tricked by a fancy title and
comfy chair.

#7. Since Emma can now hear
the whispers of certain
weapons of power, Happy’s
moaning ax must be really
annoying.

#8. When Rumplestiltskin said,
“Nothing can stop the
Darkness”, he neglected to
mention the part about
the torches.

#9. Revealing your evil plan out
loud is a guarantee for failure.

#10. Merlin’s half truth
prophecies are similar to
telling Sneezy, one day you’ll
have rock hard abs.

OBSERVATIONS

Sands of Avalon

There seemed to be a limitless supply of the Sands of Avalon. One would have thought using it to fix the broken kingdom would have depleted it but there was still plenty left. This is turning into one of those convenient magical items that can explain everything away. Add this to the list of erased memories, shape shifting and squid ink. If it was used only one time this could be overlooked but three times was way too much. Houston we have a problem.

King Arthur

I believe Arthur is misguided but not evil…..yet. Many people do things for reasons they believe to be right. This can be a very fine line though because as we saw with Cora, doing questionable acts for reasons you believe to be good can hurt many people and sear your conscience. Protecting Camelot is a noble act but lying, brainwashing, obsessing and killing (?) to get it done are the wrong ways to achieve it. I think he can still turn it around but he’s just one step away from being a misguided King to a full fledged villain.

BURNING QUESTIONS

Did Kay play a role in possibly tricking his foster brother Arthur about the sword in the stone when they were kids? He seemed way to confident in himself when he tried retrieving Excalibur so he could be King.

PREDICTIONS

What if the Darkness could become a separate entity by taking on the physical appearance of Rumplestiltskin without using Gold’s body as a host? We could relish in the pure joy of an evil, manipulating and at times, hilarious Rumple, without worrying about his relationship with Belle suffering or his redemption being compromised. I’ve always loved Rumplestiltskin but since I knew about his origins with Milah, Bae and Belle, it made it difficult to enjoy his antics at times. We know the Darkness can take on this persona because of how he appears to Emma. How amazing would it be to see Gold finally stand up to the Darkness/Rumplestiltskin that has plagued him for centuries, only this time, be able to look him right between his evil eyes. This would be a truly great way to show he is no longer a coward and how the darkness will never control him again. We know Robert Carlyle can play dual personalities but we’ve never seen them interact with each other. I’m crossing my fingers!!

Wishing you both big love and mad props.

Brad

From Genevieve
Hi Jeff and Colleen!

I was listening to your recent first thoughts podcast, and I wanted to send in my thoughts.

You spoke of the bully was who was teasing Arthur with the sword in the rocks, and also spoke about who might have adopted Arthur. In Arthurian legend, the bully is Kay, (who became “Sir Kay,” the knight who disappeared after trying to take the sword out of the stone in episode 1). Kay was Arthur’s foster/adoptive brother, son of Sir Ector. Merlin gave Arthur to Ector after Uther Pendragon, Arthur’s father, fled for his life. He’s always in competition with Arthur and is not the nicest guy, though he ends up a knight of the Round Table. So, while Ector might end up to be a nice guy on the show, his rotten son Kay is going to be a jerk to Arthur, which isn’t a great situation for an adopted child.

(I am named after Guinevere and have learned a few things about Arthur over the years.) 🙂

And as such, I’m terribly disappointed in the depiction of both Arthur and Guinevere in this story. Neither one is a very sympathetic character, nor very likable. I hope there’s some kind of explanation beyond “Arthur is evil.” I suppose we’ll just have to be patient.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the podcast!

~Genevieve

From Genevieve Par 2
I’m very confused by the “5 years ago” when Lancelot and Guinevere went to get the Dark One Dagger and Rumple was there. Wasn’t Rumple in Storybook 5 years ago? Wasn’t he in Storybooke for the last 28 years?

Just wondering. I didn’t think it had been 5 years since Rumple “died.”

Another great episode

“I don’t want to be remember as the man who kissed a sleeping princess some years ago” – Really nice sentiment, trying to leave a legacy for yourself but also wanting to be defined by something bigger than yourself, doing “something that matters”, I really liked this moment between Arthur & David.

Really moving scene with Dark Swan & Hook even though I can’t stand this coupling.

I enjoyed Arthur’s & David’s new friendship 🙂 They had a lot in common which is nice.

Yay!!!! Lancelot is alive love his friendship with Snow

Arthur’s a villain? Interesting, I kinda saw it coming, I could sense something unusual going on with him, tied to wanting Excalibur whole/ protecting his Kingdom (Camelot) etc. Hopefully it all works out. I do have a question if Merlin prophesied the savior saving him why didn’t he told Arthur the savior name unless Arthur knows and Arthur is the reason Merlin stuck in the tree to begin with because Merlin also prophesied he not the true King and Arthur want to keep the power maybe Snow and Charming son is because if I remember correctly in a episode of Charmed the first born child was prophesied to wield excibular since Emma is the Savior and equally powerful maybe Snow and Charming son is destined to wield excibular also think putting the sword and dagger won’t make the Dark One more powerful but destroy the darkness when it’s in the right hand I don’t know just a thought

His poor subject though 🙁

Nice to see Rumple awake again, poor Belle though. Jennifer did a great job at the end!”

The writers has said that Emma did cast this curse and had to crushed a heart what if it’s not the her you love the most but the heart you hate the most what if Emma crush half her heart because her heart is thing she hates because it’s turning dark if that not it then So is Emma pretending to be someone to cover the fact that someone is not there? If someone died by her crushing their heart to enact the curse then isn’t that possible?

From Chris Tipton
Hey yall, this was a strong episode, my favorite of the season. I did have issues with it that i will get to. I noticed the change in the title card, instead of the enchanted forest with some object from the episode, it was just the “dark forest”, which i thought was a neat deviation. I loved the return of snowing’s theme in the sheriff’s office. Always great to hear one of my all-time favorite pieces of music. Also, i found Zelena sarcastically miming at Regina hilarious. Even when shes on screen for a short time, she steals the show. I was disappointed with Regina saying that she is the evil queen, i thought she moved past that. Anyway enough rambling, my top 5

5) The Writing…. The dialogue in this episode was great. Any time Jane Espenson is an episode writer you can count on it, and this episode didn’t disappointment. Lines like “hes producing oxygen”, Arthurs comment on always assuming a womans right, and Rumple saying “have you thought about kissing it out”. I love how sidious Rumple refers to himself as we, like Smeagol in Lord of the rings. Very good writing indeed.

4) Holy Convenience Batman… So many conveniences and easy resolutions. Regina puts a question mark in that book for no reason, then she happens to see in storybrooke and remember why she made it. The reliquary of course just shows up to fill a purpose, and then everyone welcome magic item of the week: the Crimson crown. Arthur gave David that seat way too easily. David didn’t do anything to deserve basically the highest honor in Camelot. I know it sounds like im being too harsh, its just i grow tired of such easy resolutions, especially after the fury last week. It is just something I have to expect from this show i guess.

3) The Dwarves… The scene where the dwarves come stomping in to the sheriffs office to complain… I was in stitches. They reminded me so much of like a mean girls troup, just yelling about something of theirs being taken, then they all just turn and walk out… I loved this scene!

2) Emma and her plan… The reveal that Emma plans to make Rumple the hero is awesome. It makes total sense that she would come up with this since Rumple is a blank slate now and she can mold him to be whatever she wants. I do wonder how someone so evil can teach someone to be a hero… But hey, details details right? Speaking of Rumple, it will be great to have him back again. Seeing Robert Carlyle as the dark one is always fun but ive grown to miss seeing him as Mr. Gold.

1) David and Arthur…. David showing his insecurities and vulnerability was nice, and very realistic. I felt like this fell flat at first because weve been over this with him already, but its like real life, no matter how strong we get in certain areas, there is always still the potential to struggle with those same issues. This may explain why he took the chair at the end so easily and didn’t question how easy and convenient it was. I really loved David and Arthurs Bro-ship, which makes Arthurs betrayal all the more painful. On the surface, to me Arthur is doing a wrong thing for the right reason. He just wants to protect his kingdom, which is noble. But when you think about it, hes kind of psychotic. Hes willing to make his subject kill himself to cover his tracks, and his disregard for anyone not from Camelot is ridiculous. I do really enjoy his character and cant wait to delve further into why hes like this and why Lancelot sees him as a villain. Im starting to think it was Arthur who turned Merlin into a tree, or at least maybe he got someone to do it, possibly Morgana. I loved Davids resourcefulness in finding out who the thief was, i was expecting him to call it the holy grail. I have to wonder…how does Arthur know how to drive a truck? I guess being transported in a curse comes with new skills.

Overall, conveniences aside, this was a great episode. Im smitten with dark Emma, Jennifer Morrison is playing this part so well and you can tell shes having fun with it. 9/10 Pictures of inside Zelena

From Chris in Cincy
Hey guys,

Zelena is far less irritating to me when she can’t talk and I wish Regina would have discovered this method to silence her sooner.

I like the idea of Arthur being bad. Usually it’s Merlin who ends up being the shady one (Which he still may be)

My brother told me a funny OUAT related story. He recently got married and his wife is an OUAT fan. He has never seen an episode of OUAT before but he was watching this episode and here is how he described it: “All I know is it has Cameron from House and Claire from Lost and there were knights riding around in modern times.” But he also said that it looked interesting.

Anyway to expand on my Hawkeye comment. Colleen made a comment about superheroes sacrificing family to be supergeroes and in Age of Ultron, the Avengers go to Hawkeye’s house and he has a wife and kids and in his downtime, he lives a peaceful life on his farm. I know what you meant but the comic book nerd in me of course has to pick out the one instance where this isn’t the case. 🙂

Anyway, the Chris stands for Christopher but don’t worry, someone thinking I’m a “she” instead of a “he” based on my name is pretty low on my list of things I get upset about. 🙂

I think that Gwenevere was truly in love with Lancelot, but the secret Arthur is hiding has manipulated her into being with him, wether it’s to save lancelots life or the kingdom. Just a thought. From Rose
Hi Jeff and Colleen,

I loved the episode “Siege Perilous”. I think we were getting a lot of setup for some exciting plots to come. When they hung David’s crest on the back of the Siege Perilous I noticed the flowers on it look like the tattoo that Emma has on her wrist. We haven’t gotten the story yet on why and when she got that tattoo. But it seems that it is the flower that would be on her father’s family crest. Below is some information on the Siege Perilous from Arthurian Legend.

In Arthurian legend, the Siege Perilous (also known as The Perilous Seat) is a vacant seat at the Round Table reserved by Merlin for the knight who would one day be successful in the quest for the Holy Grail.
In Thomas Malory’s Le Morte D’Arthur, in an account taken from the Vulgate Queste del Saint Graal, the newly knighted Sir Galahad takes the seat in Camelot on Whitsunday, 454 years after the death of Jesus. The Siege Perilous is so strictly reserved that it is fatal to anyone else who sits in it. Originally, the seat and the grail belonged to Perceval, but the Lancelot-Grail Cycle transferred it to the new Cistercian-based hero Galahad.

In Arthurian Legend the seat is reserved by Merlin. Since Merlin isn’t there can Arthur assign that seat to someone without there being consequences? It seems to me that only Merlin should be able to assign that seat. Will this seat be a perilous seat for David or is he in fact the knight that is supposed to occupy the seat. Nothing is that easy on ONCE! Just saying!

I also love the Dark One storyline and Jennifer Morrison is killing it as the Dark One. She is creepy and sometimes not. The creepy Rumple on her shoulder would be freaking me out popping up all the time. I don’t believe that Emma has totally embraced the darkness. I think she has a plan and that although she is being taunted by the “faux Rumple Dark One”, that she knows exactly what happened in Camelot and that she is still protecting everyone. I believe she is still the Savior but she is pretending to be totally dark. But I do think she has an inner struggle with the darkness and the light that is in her.

I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. I actually love how this show keeps me thinking and guessing and how you can have a theory one week and the next thing you know your theory has totally changed. I’m glad I don’t always know what’s coming next. I love this show… My favorite show ever!

I also love your podcast and listen to your Initial Reactions and Analysis every week. Thanks for being my entertainment while I am at work. I am a graphic designer and I listen while I design. You guys are awesome!

Big Love and Hugs,

Rose

Hi Colleen and Jeff!

Thanx for doing 2 podcasts in one day…you did better than you thought Jeff…very minimal word stumbling the second time around-well done Sir! The first time I watched this episode I thought it was just ok, but after a rewatch…it was great, we did get a lot of information and plot driving goodness. Seems like everyone is going to get an episode this arc, very cool. Here are my thoughts on Siege Perilous.

Best quote about unknown technology ever on once upon a time: “I have this picture from up inside Zelena.” My husband doesn’t watch the show, but he did happen to be walking by when that line was given so innocently…he stopped and said, wait-what did he just say? I then had to explain that Robin Hood was talking about the sonogram of his baby he was tricked into having with the wicked witch of the west that impersonated his dead wife. I got the sideways puppy look that happens whenever you try to explain this show to a non-watcher, but it made me laugh! I hope everyone writes in this quote cuz it never gets old, and the more times Jeff has to read it the funnier it will be!

I knew Arthur was shady…if that’s really Arthur of course! It’s hard to know who is really who on this show. I feel like Arthur is trying too hard, something is just off. Lancelot said “Camelot is not what it seems.” I don’t have this theory completely figured out in my brain, but we’ll see. This would explain how he was able to pull the sword like you asked Jeff, but now is a villain. I also want to know if maybe the sword itself is influencing him somehow? I think that Nimewe has something to do with this too, Merlin was trapped in the tree by Arthur or Nimewe. But, maybe he trapped himself in the tree to protect everyone knowing the savior was coming someday. This is all so fun, like season one, theorizing again about characters and plot. I just love it!

I am so proud of Hook! I think. I thought he was going to cave, but he held his ground and refused to go dark, he wants his Emma back and I love his strength in the face of her darkness…it was a powerful scene. Reminds me what Snow said last season. “Heroes do what is right, not what is easy”. Then again…if the naughty Rumple’s monologue from last week is right, Hook not loving and supporting her may snuff out any light left and help her go dark. It’s the people that you love and that love you that keeps dark ones from succeeding, so I’m not really sure what’s truly at play here. I thought Hook was the hero Emma needed, but its Rumple!! Very interesting, I am so intrigued as to where that is going. Rumple and Emma’s role reversal is great. I love David on a quest…he really is great at the adventure stories. Though I feel bad for him, Arthur only gave him that seat to keep an eye on him and get information from the group, ya know-“keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer.” But, one can never go wrong with 2 hot guys, a truck chase and jousting with a 2 by 4! I do think this bromance will cause trouble for Snow and Charming. If Charming trusts Arthur and Snow trusts Lancelot, it could put a wedge between them, Charming knows the real story and may even get jealous…IF that’s even Lancelot of course!! I did not like the scene with Regina and Zelena. I liked the acting, but not seeing Regina go all evil Queen on her. She’s better than that, but sisters will make ya crazy at times. Maybe Zelena got the bean to try and get to Oz with the baby? I think Arthur will use David to get info and tear the group apart, and maybe even Arthur will use Zelena. If he finds out the baby drama, he could persuade her and use her magic to his advantage somehow as well. Or…he’s gonna get that dagger somehow, and control Emma to do God knows what to her family! Could go on-but this is crazy long already-Sorry! This is a great season so far!

Only a few things that made me go hmmm…Arthur really is a quick study with driving! He didn’t even know what a truck was and suddenly he’s Arthur Andretti? It was a fun scene though. Regina takes bad notes. How about a quick “can we talk to merlin with this mushroom? That would have been way more helpful. And why is everyone treating Emma like a child in Camelot? It’s bothering me. Emma has said numerous times, “No one saves me but me”, that’s why I still think she’s in there playing both sides somehow.

Big love to you both and all the Oncers…I can’t wait to hear all your thoughts and theories everyone!!! Talk to ya next week, Trace

Hello Jeff and Colleen, here’s a little advice, if you ever have the misfortune of being turned into a tree, keep all your partners limbs attached, they’ll thank you later. Now, unto to the things I learned this week on the episode, Siege Perilous.

#1. Dopey’s productivity level
“leaves” much to be desired.

#2. Putting your name on that last
piece of cake in the company
fridge means absolutely
nothing to the Dark One.

#3. Having Leroy as a friend can
cause high blood pressure.

#4. Granny’s diner needs a man
with a mop.

#5. Having temporary amnesia,
wearing strange clothes and
waking up in a place that’s
not your home could either
be a new curse of the after
effects of Doctober.

#6. If you’ve never driven a
vehicle in your life, the only
lesson you need is, speed
is feet and direction is hand.

#7. The black knight really is
invincible!!

#8. Never Cut corners when
building your crimson crown
bog bridge.

#9. Robin better learn real quick
how to password protect his
phone.

#10. Our world has something in
common with Camelot. We
both have shrooms that let
us talk to trees.

THEORIES:

Arthur knew the toadstool would help communicate with Merlin, yet he takes it from David. What if Merlin is actually appearing as Arthur and the real one is trapped in the tree. Another possibility could be a villain like Madam Mim masquerading as Arthur so that Merlin is not be free.

Have a great show

From Marilyn
Hi Jeff, Colleen, (and Lady)

When Emma asks everyone if they were sure that they didn’t want her to wiggle her nose to get Merlin out of the tree, I wonder if that was a little nod to the old TV show Bewitched? Because as far as I remember, that’s the only witch who ever cast spells by twitching her nose.

I felt so sorry for Killian in this episode, the way Emma set out to manipulate him for her own ends. Emma knew that he was the only one who knew Rumple before he became the dark one so that there was a chance that he had something in his possession that had touched Rumple before he was possessed by the darkness. So when he admitted to her that he was the villain in the scenario on his ship with Rumple trying to keep his family together and that his cutlass had touched him, she knew she had what she wanted and became her most flirtatious to get her hands on that cutlass, grabbing it away from him as she reminded him of when she had taught him to fight during the time when he was cowardly Hook.

The saddest part was when he said he loved her, in the past tense, and then asked her if he was swimming home or sailing home. It showed that he knew she was so enveloped in the darkness that he felt she was capable of killing him at that moment in time.

And then, later when Emma was in the basement room talking to the dark one, he made the comment that finding the cutlass was lucky. She replied in a completely emotionless voice: “It wasn’t luck, I worked hard for this.” Boy, that was cold and ruthless. It makes you wonder how she will be changed as a person if and when they manage to remove the darkness from her.

Take care,
Marilyn

Interview with Reini Side – Regina Redeemed – Part 3

We conclude our interview with Reini Side as she shares how Once Upon a Time inspires her to help others

Interview with Reini Side – Regina Redeemed – Part 3

Would you like to read Part 1 and 2 of our Interview with Reini Side first?

Where we left off in Part 2

Has OUAT and Cosplaying given you opportunities to give back to others? What have been some highlights?

12042283_10204916717178796_1408014012_n Yes, it has! In the friendships made with other fans, I’ve had amazing opportunities to listen to others who are hurting and offer them so much love and encouragement! My field of study was counseling/therapy, and it’s been great being able to offer those skills to others. In addition to this, I’ve had the opportunity to cosplay for young fans, giving them something exciting to look forward to, and I am in the beginning stages (with my Snow White counterpart) of getting certified to

…go full cosplay into hospitals and reach out to ill youngsters who need hope and encouragement.

Have you ever met your favorite OUAT actor or actresses? Who is it? If you have met him/her, what was that meeting like?

RegalCon made the opportunity to meet my favorite OUAT actors/actresses possible! They were all great, but if I had to choose my top 2 favorites, I would have to say Lana Parrilla and Rebecca (Bex) Mader. It was thrilling!!! Meeting Bex was exciting, and she was VERY easy to engage in conversation. Seeing me in full Evil Queen regalia, she greeted me with “Hello Sis!” Meeting Lana was quite funny…as shy as I am NOT, I found I completely forgot what I wanted to say to her, and could barely squeak out a “Hi Lana!” We were able to connect better during a private Meet & Greet event. She was truly lovely and gracious. It was a dream come true.

What are your thoughts about Season 5?

reininew1

I think it will be VERY interesting to see Regina and Emma in complete role reversal!! I’m excited to see Camelot, being one of my favorite stories, and I’m interested to see Henry’s development this season, as the new Author. And I can’t wait to see Ruby back!!

What causes or charities are important to you and how can we help? What projects are you involved with and how can we see them and support you with them?

(I’ve combined these two questions, as they’re really tied together for me).

Besides visiting children in hospitals, I have two other passions I dive into to make a difference. First, there are SO MANY homeless children in my hometown (over 200 in one district alone!), and I have had the privilege of working with one of the school districts to provide brand new clothing items for these kids…most of them never having owned ANYTHING new before!!

Second, I am active in the fight against human trafficking, having some of the LARGEST ports for it in my home state of Washington. I have partnered with some teams, including my activist sister, to provide awareness and training content all over Washington State, and, being even a tiny part, have had success changing laws and ordinances in certain counties to protect women in certain at-risk industries.

Ways to help?

For homeless children, get in conversation with your local school district to find out what their specific homeless student needs are! It’s easy to donate, whether it’s a backpack with school supplies or sturdy clothing items. For the human trafficking issue, get educated, be aware, and if you have time, partner with an advocate group! Some of the top recommended groups are:

Shared Hope International – this is one of the larger groups in the fight.
REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade) in Seattle is on the front lines and brings in girls escaping the life all the time. Also well reputed. They assist girls with seeking new jobs, legal assistance, etc.

For education, Melissa Farley at the Prostitution Research Center in San Francisco is an amazing resource. She is a good person to speak to about how coercion and lack of choice are present in most cases of prostitution.

The local Coalitions Against Trafficking through WA Engage are phenomenal. They work on a grassroots level to educate their communities and to push for legislation.
The newest one I’m connecting with this weekend is Rescue:Freedom, helping pull women out of the industry, as well as helping those who are ready earn their Masters degrees in counseling and therapy to help others who are being rescued. It’s amazing.

Ok, I feel like that was a mouthful!!

Is your significant other a Oncer, too? How do they deal with your Oncerness?

reiniandherrobinhood2

ABSOLUTELY! My deceased husband was NOT a fan, but my new Robin Hood totally is! In fact, he started watching it when we first met because he wanted to be able to understand my
passion and chat about something I was interested in…and then he got sucked in. He’s completely supportive!

What is your favorite OUAT line and why?

Oh man…do I only get to choose one?? There are so many! Probably when Regina is approached by Dr. Hopper in season 2 and she says, “Oh right, the conscience thing.” Or to Granny, “Stick to the lasagna, lady!” I love them because they’re so rude, they’re funny!

This is Jeff. I’d like to thank Reini for such a fun, insightful and revealing interview. I also wanted to let you know that Reini has a website of her own that I’d like you to check out:

reinireginaredeemed

It’s called Regina Redeemed (http://reginaredeemed.com/) and you will find more about what Reini is up to these days there.
