BURBANK, Calif. – July 26, 2012 – On Thursday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. PT, D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will begin selling tickets for the next D23 Expo, which will open one year later and run from Aug. 9-11, 2013, at the Anaheim Convention Center. The largest Disney fan event in the world, the D23 Expo celebrates the entire world of Disney entertainment and brings together all parts of The Walt Disney Company under one roof, including The Walt Disney Studios; Walt Disney Parks and Resorts; Disney Consumer Products; Media Networks (including ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel, and Radio Disney) and Disney Interactive. D23 Expo 2013 marks the third Expo held in Anaheim, following Expos in 2009 and 2011.

More than 40,000 Disney fans from around the world gathered at the Anaheim Convention Center in 2011 for the second D23 Expo: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. In anticipation of even bigger attendance, D23 Expo 2013 will feature: an overflow theater for the D23 Arena, which will accommodate more than 2,000 guests for live streaming of the popular Arena presentations; nearly double the size of presentation venue Stage 23 (formerly 1,000 seats); and an expanded show floor, to include Halls A, B, C and D, as well as a larger Collectors’ Forum to provide even more magical experiences for guests.

As in previous Expos, D23 Expo 2013 will showcase all of the latest stars in the Disney universe. In 2011, celebrity appearances included Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Garner, Dick Van Dyke, Willem Dafoe, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Jason Segel, Marty Sklar, Alice Davis, Michael Giacchino, Tony Baxter, Tom Bergeron, Regis Philbin, Jodi Benson, Lea Salonga, Linda Larkin, Paige O’Hara, Anika Noni Rose, David Arquette, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Kelly Macdonald, Kevin McKidd, Taylor Kitsch, Wilmer Valderrama, Melissa Joan Hart, Sean Astin, Chelsea Kane, and Kyle Massey, along with Disney executives and creative talent. They came together to bring special presentations, announcements, and performances to Disney fans throughout the three-day extravaganza.

D23 Expo 2013 will also feature the Disney Legends Awards–a stirring biennial event that pays tribute to the talented men and women who have made indelible contributions to the Disney legacy; an all-new Fan Art Contest themed to the upcoming 50th anniversary of Mary Poppins; the 12,000 square-foot Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit featuring costumes, props, and set pieces from Disney’s rich history; plus amazing live events, celebrity appearances, panels and presentations, sneak peeks, and unique experiences that celebrate the past, present, and future of Disney.

Tickets for D23 Expo 2013 will be available at a discounted price for a limited time. From August 9–December 31, 2012, tickets will be $47 for a one-day adult admission and $37 for children 3-12. Tickets for members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club will be $40 for a one-day adult admission and $32 for children. Multi-day money-saving tickets are also available for both D23 Members and the general public, and D23 Members can save as much as $204 off the price of admission, based on the purchase of four three-day tickets at the D23 Member rate. Since there was no D23, Disney packed up their magic bags and headed to Comic Con to unveil some of their tricks.

Chris Hardwicke (@Nerdist) hosted the panel, and officiated the Q and A with Tim Burton about this project that has been a dream of Burton’s for many years.

“When a group of fans stepped up to the microphone dressed in regalia from several of his films, Burton beamed with appreciation. “This makes me feel like my family has come to see me,” he said. But the presentation ended on a sentimental note as a young woman fought back tears of joy while trying to ask Burton, whom she described as “her inspiration,” what his experiences are like tryingto get these movies made.

“I feel like you do,” he said. “When I think about it, I start to cry myself. Every movie I burst into tears for lots of different reasons. This one is special to me.””

Oz, The Great and Powerful

“Sam Raimi’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful” was up next, and the filmmaker took the stage in his trademark sport coat, a longtime homage to Alfred Hitchcock. Describing the film, he revealed, “It’s based on [L. Frank] Baum’s great books and it’s the story of who the wizard was and how he came to be the great wizard. He was a lothario and a cad, selfish, and throughout the course of the journey Oz [becomes] like the land of second chances for him. He’s shown the right way to live his life and he becomes more of a selfless man.”

Raimi then introduced a montage of footage from the film, a rough trailer which not only set up the story but paid homage to its predecessor, the classic fantasy film “The Wizard of Oz.” Actor James Franco’s Wizard makes off in a hot air balloon, only to get swept into a tornado and transported to Oz, where he encounters the comely charms of Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis and Rachel Weisz. The most exciting moment came, however, when the black and white footage that began the clip transformed into color, and expanded from an old-school 4:3 aspect ratio to startling, gorgeous widescreen.”

Wreck it Ralph

“Audiences will have to wait until March of 2013 to see how that particular film “came to be,” but “Wreck-It Ralph” is due out in late 2012, and it already had some terrific buzz even before director Rich Moore showed attendees a lengthy, 10-minute clip from the movie. “’Wreck-It Ralph’ is the story of a 1980s video game bad guy who after 30 years of doing the same job decides maybe there’s more to life – midlife crisis. Sets him out on a journey to prove he’s more than just a bad guy.””

The Lone Ranger

“About 6,000 fans at the San Diego Convention Center Thursday got the first look at “The Lone Ranger,” which stars Depp as Tonto.

He wears long hair and full-face makeup to portray the Lone Ranger’s Native American companion. The brief clip hinted at the character’s craftiness, with one scene showing him riding beneath a speeding train. It also offered a peek at Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Helena Bonham Carter as a dame of interest, amid a backdrop of trains crossing the Western desert. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the film.”

OUAT – Adam Horowitz & Edward Kitsis renew their deal with ABC and Disney

Once Upon A Time executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have renewed their contract with ABC for another 3 years. Even though this does not mean an automatic renewal for Once Upon A Time, it gives us hope that more upcoming seasons seem promising. This article also confirms that Kitsis and Horowitz’s creative minds and out-of-the-box thinking will be with OUAT until the end of its run (whenever that may be). We hope later rather than sooner. 🙂

Do you recognize these Disney princesses?

Come this fall, we will see these wonderful Disney Princesses come to human form in the Enchanted Forest and hopefully even Storybrooke.

Executive Producer Adam Horowitz has confirmed that Jamie Chung and Sarah Bolger will come to Once Upon A Time as Mulan and Aurora respectively.

‘Once Upon a Time’ casts Sleeping Beauty and Mulan

Two more lovely ladies have been drawn into the magical world of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.”

EW.com first reported that “Hangover 2” actress Jamie Chung has been cast as Mulan, while TVLine reported “Tudors” beauty Sarah Bolger is joining as Princess Aurora for the drama’s second season.
