OUAT – Dolly Zoom Camera Effect

Dolly Zoom is a camera effect that allows the camera to pan away from the subject without changing its size or appearance. Most often, Dolly Zoom is found in horror or suspense movies to give the scene a very dramatic effect.

This effect was used in movies like Jaws –

It was also used in Alfred Hitchcock’s movie Vertigo (Notice it when Jimmy Stewart looks down the stairs)

And in this very dramatic finale of Once Upon A Time, the Dolly Zoom was also used in a scene involving Emma and the curse.

Cool huh?

OUAT – Mary Margaret and David’s Kiss and Hitchcock’s Vertigo

We mentioned in the First Thoughts OUAT Fan Podcast episode that Mary Margaret and David’s kiss in 7:15AM…

reminded me of the Jimmy Stewart and Kim Novak kiss in Hitchcock’s Vertigo:

It’s not exactly the same, but the camera going around them was the same.
