OUAT – Frederick is what in Storybrooke?

When Katherine storms into the school to confront Mary Margaret (very Housewives of Storybrooke, btw) and on the way to slap Mary Margaret, she bumps into a very inter looking gym teacher:

So, Frederick did take the magical smoke portal to Storybrooke. I wonder if this Gym Teacher and Katherine will ever meet?

Well, we may have an answer to that.

We know that Katherine was accepted to law school in Boston (One wonders if she had “ears” on the acceptance board (Like Abigail?)) and on her way out of town, she met a very interesting accident (more about that in another post). Ironically or coincidentally, the Gym Teacher was driving out of town:

Why was he heading out of town? Was he heading out of town? Was he following Katherine? Does he know more about her that we have lead to believe?

He drives up on Katherine’s car that looks like she drove (or was pushed mysteriously) off the side of the road, and get out to help.

When he comes up to her car, we see the airbag has been deployed, her car door is open, and she is not there. Where is she? Does her “disappearance” (If she is in fact, gone) have anything to do with Regina burning Katherine’s “Dear Jane” letter? Sort of like a ‘Voodoo’ letter, of sorts.

Wait! This car off the side of the road reminds me of another Storybrooke accident. See you in the next blogpost about the comparison.

OUAT – We Know What Happened to Frederick and How to Fix it

So, we learn from Abigail that her father’s caravan was ambushed and Frederick “sacrificed his life” to save King Midas in the ambush. Frederick “threw himself into Kind Midas, knocking him (Midas) to safety,” but became a victim of Midas’ curse and was turned to gold. Interesting that she called Midas gold touch a “curse”. Who put the curse on him, I wonder? Anyway, Frederick was turned to gold.

To be honest, he was gold plated. We’ll get to that in a minute. Abigail tells Prince Charming a legend of a magical lake with water that has properties of returning what was lost to those who use it.

Fast forward – Prince Charming returns with the water and Abigail pours it on golden Frederick, and the gold disappears from him.

Now, we see Frederick revealed from under his gold plated “curse”:

It is interesting that a famous sage phrase states, “If you lack something, help someone else find/obtain what they are lacking, and you will find what you lack,” it could be a variation of the Golden Rule, too. Prince Charming does the honorable thing and helps Abigail (who helped him out of marrying her).

You can also toss in acts of skill or achievements similar to Labor of Hercules or the Hero’s tasks as the Hero grows stronger to face the ultimate task or “earns” his ultimate “prize” (maiden, power, enlightenment, riches, etc).

Have we seen Frederick in Storybrooke? Well, that’s another blog post. 🙂

Ask Regina’s Garden Gnome – 108

“Mr. Gnome…..

The number 108 is prevalent through out the Eastern philosophies and Indian religions. The Buddhist believe that there are 108 defilements and 108 earthly temptations that a human being MUST overcome to achieve Nirvana, or personal liberation. The Mayor Regina Mills’ address is 108 Mifflin St……..
My question is…. Have you witnessed any of these defilements or temptations that our poor Sheriff Graham, obviously, did not survive??….lol?” Manny

Gnome- Dude, that was a long question. Actually, yes I have. You know that old Yoko Ono album (you know the one I mean)? Regina loves it. I mean she LOVES it. She plays it alot (Especially this one), and I’m not sure the defilement scale of something like that, but it must be off the charts. Poor Sheriff Graham used to wear earplugs to block out the sound of it. Regina would get so mad at him and scream, “Can you hear me, Graham??” I’m fairly sure that it wasn’t love that brought Emma and Graham together, it was the lack of Yoko Ono’s album at Emma’s house. Ok, that and those pants and boots Emma wore. Just sayin’

OUAT – Insteresting tidbits about Mr. August Wayne Booth

We got an email from longtime friend of what we do here, David B;

“August Wayne Booth sounds similar to John Wilkes Booth (Lincoln’s assassin).

From wikipedia…In August 1855 John Wilkes Booth made his stage debut in
the supporting role of the Earl of Richmond in Richard III at Baltimore’s
Charles Street Theatre. Author Gene Smith wrote that Booth’s acting may
not have been as precise as his brother Edwin’s, but his strikingly
handsome appearance enthralled women.

David B.”

We did mention the initial connection to the name booth in our First Thoughts episode on What Happened to Frederick: Listen here

Sure, this might be a stretch here, but a few things stick out to me;

JWB was an actor. Playing a role.
JWB had a brother. Many people have theorized that August was one of the Grimm brothers.
JWB was an assassin. Some have intimated that the August may have not so good intentions in Storybrooke.
JWB was handsome. My wife does fall into the “enthralled” by August, too.

Thanks David for your cool input.
