Once Upon a Time Beginner’s Guide

STORYBROOKE

Storybrooke, Maine is a town where the curse sent all fairy tale characters. They are trapped within Storybrooke and are unaware if they try and leave the town line “something bad will happen”. Since Henry was born in this world, he is able to leave the town without the curse affecting him. He is the only one, beside Regina, that knows about the curse.

LIST OF MAIN LOCATIONS IN STORYBROOKE

CLOCKTOWER/LIBRARY
In the middle of town sits a broken clock tower stuck on 8:15 that hasn’t functioned in 28 years. The clock represents how time is standing still and once Emma decides to stay, the clock tower mysteriously begins to work again. Underneath the tower is the library, which has been closed for as long as anyone can remember.

GRANNY’S DINER
This is the place where the residents of Storybrooke go to relax and have a burger. It is owned by Granny and her granddaughter, Ruby, who serves as a waitress.

GRANNY’S BED AND BREAKFAST
This is the only hotel in Storybrooke and is owned by Mr. Gold. It is connected to Granny’s Diner.

MARY MARGARET’S APARTMENT
This is where Emma decides to stay after leaving Granny’s Bed And Breakfast. Lots of conversations and the occasional party happen here. This is as close to a home as Emma has ever had.

STORYBROOKE GENERAL HOSPITAL
Dr. Whale runs the hospital. Leroy is on staff as a janitor as well as Walter (Sleepy) as a security guard. Mary Margaret also volunteers and it’s where she first sees David Nolan (Prince Charming).

STORYBROOKE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT
Sheriff Graham places Emma in jail here. The sheriff station and jail cell are used multiple times throughout the season.

STORYBROOKE TOWN HALL
The townspeople gather here to have meetings and discuss decisions regarding Storybrooke.

REGINA’S MAYORAL OFFICE
Regina can usually be seen here devising a new scheme against certain people in town.

REGINA’S HOUSE
Regina’s adopted son Henry lives here with her. When he’s not trying to run away or convince Emma his mom is the Evil Queen, he’s usually in his room reading his book or planning strategies for Operation Cobra.

THE MINES
The mines have been abandoned and are no longer used. Henry becomes trapped here along with Archie as they discover something is buried down deep within.

MR. GOLD PAWNBROKER AND ANTIQUES DEALER
Mr. Gold runs the pawnshop in town and it’s the best place if you’re looking to make a deal. His ways may be questionable at times but he always gets results. Anyone looking for an item from the Enchanted Forest, this would be the place to find it.

DR. HOPPER’S OFFICE
Archie Hopper is a psychotherapist. One of his patients is Henry, who has delusional thoughts that everyone in town is actually a fairytale character and that his mom is the Evil Queen. With a town like Storybrooke, someone like Dr. Hopper is much needed.

Wow! So far this is a fantabulous piece on Once Upon a Time. Kudos and big Thanks to Brad! His things he’s learnt from each episode are one of my favourite things and I am so glad to see that he is contributing posts as well! Well done Sir!

Just because I am a very detail oriented/obsessed person, I cannot help but ask… is the picture of Granny’s house not a Storybrooke picture? It does not look like the more wooden cabin structure that was in the Enchanted Forest that appeared in Red Handed to me… just sayin’. 😉

    Big Love to all!

Truly amazing post. Incredibly well done!

Apart from the previously mentioned detail of the perhaps erroneous picture of Granny’s House (on page 3 – later confirmed to be a Storybrooke picture of Granny’s B&B), on page 7, I do believe you meant that Thomas is Cinderella’s husband.

Also, I might have put James as “James” but maybe that’s just me!

This was an amazing post and I simply could not resist posting my obsessive detail noticing and my sincere thanks and congratulations!

    More Big Love to all!
