Sceencaps and bog posts about the hit, ABC TV show Once Upon a Time

OUAT – Answered wishes bring surprise gifts, too!

So, I was at a buddies house watching the Superbowl (Actually I was there for the cookout (Salmon, ya’ll) and conversation), and I got a Tweet and email from a kind blogger (InkGypsy) that wanted to feature the podcast in a post on a sad day for Oncers (With a Superbowl on, but no OUAT). I replied and gave InkGypsy the info she asked for.

A little while later, I saw a confirmation Tweet and read through the post and was blown away.

InkGypsy’s blog post about the podcast is the most thorough and well written review I have ever read. She caught the essence of who we are, what we do and is probably the most engaging post I’ve read in a long time.

Here is an excerpt, “While I’ve seen a few podcasts stutter into being then fizzle out since the beginning of the show, this one, and its home website, has gone from strength to strength, showing no signs of slowing down. They provide new content and/or food for thought daily via their blog (with lots of fantastic visuals, like these two – left and right – shown for comparison), Twitter feed, Facebook page and, of course, when new podcast episodes are available to listen to. It’s also more encompassing and up-to-date than anything fan-related/driven on the Once Upon A Time website.”

You can read the entire review here: http://fairytalenewsblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/once-upon-time-fan-podcast.html

If you are a listener of the OUAT Fan Podcast or a visitor of the blog or forum I would ask that you would check out the InkGypsy’s site. It’s called the Once Upon a Time Blog – Fairy Tale News. As you can expect, it covers fairy tale news, from all angles (OUAT, Grimm, original stories, etc). I would also say that it’s probably the most artful and beautiful site I’ve seen in a long time. The photos and artwork she posts with her writing and reviews are so good. The one thing I try (really hard) to model here is we send out love and kindness, and we also return kindness and love, too. I would like you to go to her site: http://fairytalenewsblog.blogspot.com check it out and leave a kind comment and let her know what her fantastic review meant to you and this podcast/blog/site.

I am again humbled (again and again) as we take this trek of the growth of this amazing little podcast that is continuing to grow and catch people’s attention. With that in mind, we should never ever take any step of kindness for granted. I’m going right now to take a more thorough look at InkGypsy’s site. I hope you will, too.

OUAT – Fabricating a Fairy Tale World in Vancouver

This articles is from the Vancouver Sun about the B.C. Production design team bringing Once Upon a Time to life:

“Storybrooke, Maine is a picturesque little fishing village, a slice of small-town Americana that’s so quaint and pretty it almost seems like something out of a fairy tale.

Guess what? It is. The fictional town is the setting for a new TV series, Once Upon A Time. The show has been shooting around Metro Vancouver since the summer, and makes its debut this Sunday on ABC and CTV.

OUAT – The Mythology and DNA of the story of Star Wars

I know this is an interview with George Lucas, about the Star Wars saga, and not specifically about Once Upon a Time. It discusses the use of color, how and why a characters looks a certain way, the mythology and story points, etc. There are parts that you can use to see Once Upon a Time in a whole, new way:

OUAT – What the Flock?

Okay, some people have thought that I over analyze, and this might be the point I’ve gone over the edge, but here goes anyway.

So, in “7:15 AM” we see the storyline centering around Mary Margaret getting an injured Dove (some say a Pigeon) back to its flock. This is the flock she returned it to:

I started thinking that there were other flocks of birds I’ve seen in Once Upon a Time before. Now, I know I may be over analyzing, but I don’t think directors put in things for no reason. If they did in these situations, sorry, but I want to post this on the chance that these were placed here on purposes, for a reason in the storyline.

Flocks in the Pilot episode #1:

Flock #2:

and Flock #3 flying out ahead of the Dark Curse (right behind the mysterious dragon that we don’t talk much about (but I do)):

So, why post this? Well, we know that bluebirds transfer messages and maybe these flocks that are transferring information will fit into the storyline somehow, or maybe not. If not, please enjoy these lovely screenshots that some CG artist worked on for this show. 🙂

OUAT – The DNA of Stories (The Hero’s Journey)

I’ve mentioned Joseph Campbell, and his influence on George Lucas and Star Wars, but I also want you to consider the Once Upon a Time in this mix. Here is a very cool video showing the sections of Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey in three major motion picture stories;

Can’t you see Emma progressing through these sections? What do you think?
