OUAT – What the Flock?

Okay, some people have thought that I over analyze, and this might be the point I’ve gone over the edge, but here goes anyway.

So, in “7:15 AM” we see the storyline centering around Mary Margaret getting an injured Dove (some say a Pigeon) back to its flock. This is the flock she returned it to:

I started thinking that there were other flocks of birds I’ve seen in Once Upon a Time before. Now, I know I may be over analyzing, but I don’t think directors put in things for no reason. If they did in these situations, sorry, but I want to post this on the chance that these were placed here on purposes, for a reason in the storyline.

Flocks in the Pilot episode #1:

Flock #2:

and Flock #3 flying out ahead of the Dark Curse (right behind the mysterious dragon that we don’t talk much about (but I do)):

So, why post this? Well, we know that bluebirds transfer messages and maybe these flocks that are transferring information will fit into the storyline somehow, or maybe not. If not, please enjoy these lovely screenshots that some CG artist worked on for this show. 🙂

OUAT – The DNA of Stories (The Hero’s Journey)

I’ve mentioned Joseph Campbell, and his influence on George Lucas and Star Wars, but I also want you to consider the Once Upon a Time in this mix. Here is a very cool video showing the sections of Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey in three major motion picture stories;

Can’t you see Emma progressing through these sections? What do you think?

OUAT – What about the Genie’s Peacock necklace?

So, we see the Genie wearing this ornate Peacock necklace:

It is a peacock necklace, and there is a green hue to it. Peacock = changing colors. Got it. Sorta like a mood ring, but a necklace. However, something strange happened.

After the Genie is “set free” from being a Genie, the necklace loses it color:

Are we to assume that the necklace held some special power for the Genie, and when he was no longer a Genie, the power left the necklace (exhibited by no more color)? I’m also wondering if the necklace will show up in Mr. Gold’s shop, or Regina’s jewelry collection?

What do you think about this mysterious necklace?

OUAT – What is that tent behind the Genie? Does Aladdin live there? Who does?

So, I was watching “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree,” and I saw something behind the Genie:

Do you see it, just to the right of his face? It looks like an ornate tent. Maybe from a Fairy Tale set in a Medieval time? Or a tent from something like Aladdin? Look at another view of it:

Who do you think lives in the tent? Maybe the person who used the Genie’s lamp previously and threw it in the lake (with seaweed already on the lamp, of course) and it washed upon the shore, or left it on the shore as they walked back to their tent for someone else to find. Heck, maybe their watching King Leopold and the Genie right now?

What do you think? We wish you would leave a comment. 😉

What do the different Smoke Colors in OUAT mean?

We have seen many instances of smoke in Once Upon a Time, but what do the different Smoke Colors in OUAT mean?

Smoke Colors in OUAT

Purple Smoke (Used to send people to Storybrooke);

In the Pilot:

and in True North:

a bit of a snag – Purple also means a clothing change (The Price of Gold)

to compare – Purple still means clothing change Cora changed Regina’s clothes into a beautiful dress in (Mother 4X21))

Green smoke (Means the Curse you were trying to conjour failed):

Purple smoke with tinges of Green in it (Dark Curse achieved):

same coloring when the Dark Curse rolls in:

Blue Smoke (Genie smoke):

I don’t think we’ve seen all the colors of smoke yet, but that’s all I’ve caught so far.
